If you are going up a wheel size on your SUV or ute, filter by vehicle first, then compare width, offset, brake clearance and tyre options.

A Hilux SR on 265/65R17 tyres has about 172 mm of sidewall. Switch to 265/50R20 tyres at nearly the same overall diameter and it drops to about 133 mm. That’s almost 40 mm less rubber between the rim and a pothole.

How to Check Wheel Fitment for Your Vehicle

The process starts with your vehicle's year, make, model and variant. Then we check the wheel and tyre combination, including these four aspects:

• PCD (bolt pattern): This must match the hub. A 6×139.7 wheel has six mounting holes on a 139.7 mm circle.
• Centre bore: The wheel’s centre hole must clear the hub. If it is larger, suitable hub-centric rings can fill the gap.
• Offset: This controls where the wheel sits. At the same width, 10 mm less offset moves it about 10 mm outward. Use ouroffset calculator to compare clearance.
• Load rating: Check the exact wheel variant against your vehicle’s requirements, including any GVM upgrade or added load. This is equally important for EVs too.

We also check wheel width, tyre size and clearance around the brakes and guards. Road rules vary by state.VSB 14 limits tyre diameter increases on passenger cars to 15 mm. InNSW, eligible 4WDs can increase tyre diameter by up to 50 mm and suspension height by up to 50 mm without certification, provided the total ride-height increase stays within 75 mm. A 33-inch tyre is about 62 mm taller than a Hilux SR’s 265/65R17, so it generally needs certification in NSW. Wheel spacers are also prohibited there unless fitted by the manufacturer.

What’s the difference between mag wheels, alloy wheels and rims?

In everyday shopping, all three can mean the complete wheel. Mag wheels are aluminium alloy wheels. Most alloy wheels sold today use aluminium alloy. The rim is technically the wheel’s outer edge.

Find your vehicle’s approved load requirements and any GVM upgrade paperwork. Match them to the rating of the exact wheel size and offset. Ratings can change between variants.

What does the fitment guarantee cover?

We verify eligible orders before processing. If a covered wheel or package does not fit, we will help resolve it or refund it under our fitment guarantee. Custom and forged wheels are excluded. Check the policy for other exclusions.

Will aftermarket wheels affect my insurance?

Aftermarket wheels may count as a modification. Tell your insurer what you plan to fit and ask whether it changes your cover before you order.
