Discover a wide range of 4×4 suspension lift kits at AutoCraze from the biggest names brands such as Dobinsons, Tough Dog, EFS, Bilstein, Fox, and our very own AutoCraze lift kit.
Many of the 4WD’s you see going tough mudder off-roading can’t go that hard without a reliable lift. Without buying a lift kit for 4X4, you’re missing out on the huge potential in terms of style and performance.
Going off-roading is the heart of a 4WD and with the smart new trucks, you’re going to need something solid. We have 4×4 suspension to suit all makes and models including the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT-50, Holden Colorado, Nissan Navara NP300 and more.
Our lift kits come in a total package including shock absorbers, coil springs, leaf springs, bush kits, strut caps, shackles and pins.
Types of Suspension Lift Kits
While each type of 4x4 vehicle requires a different 4x4 lift kit setup, there are two main types: leaf spring and coil spring.
Leaf Spring Kits
Typically, leaf spring suspensions are found in many models of 4x4. The simplest way to add height is to install new, bigger springs. Lifting blocks can also lift the rear of a 4WD but are not usually applicable for the front of vehicles because it typically causes issues with braking - this is not something you want with a fully loaded family adventure!
If you would like to add a suspension lift kit to the front and back of the 4x4, then the add-a-leaf method is one option. An extra leaf is inserted into the vehicle's leaf pack. But beware, the added spring rate can result in a rougher ride than the stock factory set.
New Leaf Spring Kits
The add-a-leaf option relies on old springs, but the alternative is simply replacing the springs with a new leaf spring pack. With a new leaf spring pack, the springs will not be fatigued, and the amount of lift can be customised to fit the vehicle and the desired amount of lift. Of course, this option does also depend on the age of your vehicle.
Your 4x4 can also be lifted by using longer shackles. The shackles will provide 50% lift so a two-inch shackle will give a one-inch lift. The downside of longer shackles is that they affect pinion and shackle angle.
Longer shackles should be used in a limited manner as a corrective measure. Polyurethane spring eye and shackle bushings should be used because they are more durable than factory rubber bushings when there is a great deal of flexing.
Coil Spring Kits
In 4x4's with coil springs, a coil spring lift can be used. This type of lift uses a spring spacer or a longer coil spring. The spacer lift is more appropriate for the desired lift of two to three inches. The factory-installed springs can be kept, and the shock absorbers may not need to be replaced, so the spacer lift is relatively inexpensive.
Longer coil springs may improve the load capacity of the 4x4 but are more expensive and harder to install. The downside of coil spring lifts is that the angles of the radius arm and track bars are changed, and axle location may also be changed with both axles moving toward the centre of the truck, which can shift the centre of gravity!

WHY GET A 4X4 SUSPENSION LIFT
Buying a lift kit is more than just about the looks. There are huge functional benefits in getting a 4×4 suspension. The standard 4×4 suspension was never designed to handle the tough conditions we want it to. From pulling heavy loads or caravans to taking heavy hits from hill climbing and mud trawling. Aftermarket 4×4 suspension takes this into account to ensure that all vehicles are prepared for the Australian outback. Here are 3 reasons why you want to lift your 4WD.1. More Clearance
More clearance equals a better off-roading experience. Your lifting all your critical components under your vehicle away from the ground. This means when you do go off-road you’re adding inches on your 4×4 moving the frame away from any unexpected debris, rocks and cross any flooded banks.2. Bigger wheels and tyres
With extra clearance and space, you can now fit bigger wheels and tyres. With bigger wheels and aggressive tyres, you’ll also get a longer life. When you have bigger tyres, it also means added traction so you’re never left in the dark in snowy, muddy or sandy terrain.3. Look Tougher
Add height, beefier wheels and tyres and you’ve got yourself one badass truck.

COMPONENTS OF 4X4 SUSPENSION
There are many components within a 4×4 suspension that makes it work. These components within a 4×4 suspension can alter the way your 4wd drives by either making it more comfortable or increase your load bearing potential to help push heavier loads and even help perform on off-road terrains.
Generally, all 4×4 suspension comprises of:
►Shocks: The shocks within a 4×4 suspension is one of the most important parts. It ensures that your vehicle is kept relatively comfortable and smooth. Many vehicles replace their shock absorbers with a higher pressure, high-temperature replacement for those who plan to pull heavy loads or go off-roading with their 4WD.
► Springs: The springs within your 4×4 suspension work hand to hand with your shocks. Helping absorb energy that’s generated when driven over humps and bumps when going off-road. Typically, when you raise your vehicle, raised springs are required to ensure your safety. However, if you’re getting a load-based suspension done, then a much firmer and stronger heavy duty coil springs or leaf springs can be installed to provide additional support when towing heavy loads.
► Bushes: In almost all 4×4 suspension kits, you’ll tend to find that there are a number of bushes that help separate the moving parts of your vehicle. To help reduce scrapping and scrubbing between them and help absorb shocks that would otherwise be directed to the more delicate parts of the vehicle.
► Shackles & Bolts: The shackles & bolts within a 4×4 suspension kit comes in a vast variety of sizes to help tie together your suspension set up. These, shackles & bolts, including your U-bolts, are usually replaced when it’s necessary as part of the suspension to give it extra reinforcement and greater stability.CALL 1800 099 634 TO ORDER YOUR SET OF 4X4 SUSPENSION
