Volkswagen Golf R32 MK5
The Volkswagen Golf R32 MK5 went on sale in late September 2007 as is still a cult classic within the Automotive community as it was the last Golf with a naturally aspirated 6 cyclinder engine. Maximum power output for the updated VR6 was 184KW (246 BHP) and 320NM (236 lb ft) of torque.
The final iteration of the VR6 motor had a top speed of 250KM/H and would reach 100KM/H from stand still in 6.5 seconds. It featured the revolutionary DSG (Direct-shift Gearbox) which was a dual clutch transmission which has since been implemented by the Volkswagen group across all their brands in different variations. Manual variations were also offered.

Both Audi and Porsche use the same DSG gearbox in their newer vehicles, albeit updated. A Haldex 4motion drivetrain meant power was translated through a part-time Four-wheel drive system.
AutoCraze has expertly fitted hundreds of Golf R32’s as they are still as popular as ever. Customers choose Rotiform and Niche Wheels for Golf R’s however BBS, TSW and Envizio are all popular choices for their Golf R wheels.
Golf R Wheels come in a variety and sizes and AutoCraze can explain the concept of fitment so you achieve the look you’re after.
Volkswagen Golf R MK6
The 0-100KMH time was 5.5 seconds, a significant improvement to the previous generation Golf R32 although the engine was paired to the same 6-speed DSG transmission. It boasted a larger K04 turbo than the standard FSI EA113 engine and a reinforced engine blocked, larger intercooler and stronger piston rings. The Golf R drivetrain was a revised version of the Haldex four-wheel drive system in the R32 MK5.

Competitors such as the Focus RS, Civic Type R, A45 AMG and the M140i are still the main competitors for the Golf R.
The engine is based off the MK7 Golf GTI engine however it features upgraded cylinder heads, exhaust valves, pistons, injectors, larger intercoolers and turbocharger. The MK7 Golf R produces significantly more power to a different drivetrain.
The MK7 Golf R produces 221KW (296BHP) and 380NM (280LB-FT) of torque.
The engine is paired to a 6 Speed DSG transmission, however the MK7.5 transmission was updated to a 7-Speed. 0-100KMH takes only 4.9 seconds and has a claimed fuel consumption of 7.10/100km.
The MK7 is the first Volkswagen Golf R to have “Dynamic Chassis Control” (DCC) to allow users to change the suspension modes between Comfort, Normal and Race.
The Golf R underwent a Facelift by Volkswagen in 2016 naming it the MK7.5 The main performance differences were that the transmission was now a 7-speed instead of the previous 6-speed.
Power increased to 231KW (310BHP). The front fascia of the Golf R was also updated with more aggressive styling and different editions available. Inside the cabin, a digital display has been introduced for drivers, with a large LCD panel providing speed, vehicle and GPS information.
